A Bright Dawn
On 27th December, 1897 Delta Jute Mills Company Limited (DJML), was incorporated by the British and they established a Jute mill at 14 Mehta Road, Budge Budge.
The Golden Horse
Cheviot Agro Industries Private Limited [CAIPL] owner of the Binnakandi Tea Estate, a 1500 Hectares tea garden in Assam was acquired by the late B.D. Kanoria. Owing to the quality and speed with which 1 million kgs of Premium Assam CTC Tea was produced, its brand was aptly named the “Golden Horse”.
In Pursuit of Jute
Acquired and exclusively managed by B.D. Kanoria, the factory situated at 14 Mehta Road was brought under the banner of Cheviot Company Limited (CCL). Traditional jute products like sacking and hessian were manufactured.
Sweet Success
Cheviot forayed into manufacturing high grade export yarns - marking a milestone of diversification and growth in exports.
Zoom In, Loom Out
Under the stewardship of H.V. Kanoria, Cheviot launched a specialised weaving unit with 100 Sulzer looms at the Falta Special Economic Zone. Customers across the globe appreciated the newly launched products: technical textiles and geotextiles.
Educate and Innovate
Cheviot built Cygnus World School, a new-age, co-educational school with modern academic, co-curricular, and sports facilities. It is spread on a sprawling campus of 7.3 acres in Vadodara, Gujarat, and is modelled on the lines of a green educational village.
Planet Over Plastic
By manufacturing eco-friendly Jute shopping bags and supplying them to supermarkets and stores, Cheviot replaced thousands of use-and-throw plastic bags that clog our planet.
Earth Is Worth It
Cheviot allocated reserves and resources to introduce a new line of horticultural products and light weight geotextiles that further strengthening its position in the United States of America.
The Promise of Perfection
Exponential expansion awaits as a new multi-storey weaving and processing unit is set to be launched within Budge Budge factory premises. With an aim of perfection, the new family of Sulzer looms and state-of-art machineries will manufacture fabrics with superior finishes to satiate the global demand.
